History

An inscription retrieved from the temple premises records that the
edifice was built by queen Vasata, daughter of maukhari king Suryawaram
of Magadh and the widowed mother of the temple is datable to circa 625-650 A.D

If you are a historical place lover definitely you are going to like this place. An ancient place in Chhattisgarh, almost 80 kilo meter from city Raipur. I have seen people searching for places to visit near Raipur. And if you are planing a one day trip, I would say best place must visit this historical place

Description:-


The brick temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu stands on a prominent platform of 6 feet height and consist of Gharbhagriha, Antarala and an enclosed pillared Mandapa.

The Garbhagriha is approched through an ornate stone doorway adorned with 
a reclining image of Sehasayi Vishnu on the lalatabimba.Both the jambs are embellished with pachashakha and another motifs such as the Patrashakha, Ratnashakhra, Mithunshakha, agin patrashakha and another one bearing depipiction of various incarnation of Vishnu like Matsya, Varaha, Narsimha, Vaman Rama etc.besides the mythological narration pertains to Krishnalila, Keshivadh, Hayagriva etc.

The temple s pancharatha on plan and roofed by nagara (curvilnear) sikhara decorated with imposing chaitya arches in the central rathas. The Mandapa is enclosed with two side walls and has remnants of two row of pillars, eight on each row with corresponding pilaster on the side walls.
