The Gangrel Dame i.e. Ravi Shankar Sagar Dam of Dhamtari
district has a distinct identity on the Chhattisgarh Tourism map of Chhattisgarh state. In
this very beautiful dam built on the Mahanadi, the incomplete amount of water
makes it feel like a Samandari island.

Now after the completion of the lake view projector, it has
become the most beautiful artificial beach in the country. Union Minister of
State for Tourism KJ Alphonse also praised it openly. Gangrel Dame Project has
been a unique project in its own right from the time of its construction, which
was built in the year 1978. Let's learn the special things between Gangrel Dame

It is located in Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh. It is
also known as Ravi Shankar Sagar Dam. It is located at a distance of 90 km from
the capital Raipur. Gangrel Dam was constructed in 1978. It was inaugurated by the
then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Built across the Mahanadi River, it is the longest dam in
Chhattisgarh, whose beauty is built on seeing it. Due to its beauty, people
come from far and wide to visit here. This dam provides water for irrigation
throughout the year, due to which the yield of paddy in its surrounding areas
is in abundance and hence Chhattisgarh is called the rice bowl. The farmers of
the plains here can produce two to three crops per year. Approximately 57000
hectares of land are irrigated with the water of this dam about 1830 meters long
and 100 feet high.
This artificial beach has been prepared in a radius of about
1 kilometer which is part of the tribal tourism circuit. This dam's coast looks
like a beach and facilities of the same level have been developed here. Here
log huts, cafeterias, gardens, pagodas, water sports facilities have been
developed under Ethnic Tourist Destination Development. Parasailing, Plyboard,
Octane, Jarbin Ball, PwC Bike, Banana Ride, Hundred Seater Ship, Water Cycle,
Kayak, Paddle Boats, etc. can be enjoyed here.

Under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme of Ministry of Tourism,
Government of India, 13 major tourist destinations including
Jashpur-Kunkuri-Mainpat-Kamleshwarpur-Maheshpur-Kudar-Sarodhadadar-Gangrel-Kondagaon-Nathianwagaon-Jagadpur-Chitrakote-Tirathgarh
in Chhattisgarh in 'Tribal Tourism Circuit' Will be added. 99 crore rupees have
been approved by the Ministry of Chhattisgarh Tourism for the project.
